May 20 - 24

Writing-  Students have been finishing up their Westward Expansion informational texts and they are printing beautifully!  What a wonderful book each student has created with many facts and learnings about this important time period in our country's history.  We are starting a short unit on memoir to wrap up the year where the students will be writing across a theme that is personal to themselves!

Social Studies - Students have been having a blast preparing and then enjoying the big DEBATE!  Patriots and Loyalists went head to head debating the idea of independence.  Some amazing reasons were given on behalf of both sides and the costumes were amazing!   Way to go, colonists!    The Chapter 11 test is Thursday, May 30, 2019.  Study information was sent home on Thursday.

Reading-  As we finish up reading testing, we will be moving into a new unit that focuses on social issues.

Math-  We finished up Unit 6 on Monday with our test. They are coming home today! Please send them back by Wednesday with a signature and corrections done. Unit 7 focuses on algebra, patterns, and coordinate graphs and we are jumping right in!

Science-  Students learned quite a bit more about the food web and chains. They had fun interacting with an app to try to get a forest food web to survive. Later in the week we began preparing to become botanists as we take a closer look at the plants that we planted earlier in this unit!
